FAQs
What is Shapes Mentoring Program?
Shapes Mentoring Program is an Assemblies of God agency that matches mentors with children (4-17 years old) that have one or more parent incarcerated in a state or federal institution.
Why this population?
Children who have one or more parent incarcerated are seven times more likely to spend time in prison than those without an incarcerated parent. This population is also five times more likely to enter the foster care system. In addition, these children are more likely to live in poverty. There are 1.5 – 2 million children that fit this category across the US, with about 1,000 of them living in the Springfield Metro area.
