We have all heard the phrase “A New Year, A New You!” That is most definitely one way to describe what is happening with the Shapes Mentoring Program.
Two days prior to the last business day of 2011 the Shapes Mentoring Office relocated to the fourth floor of the Assemblies of God National Leadership and Resource Center. Now that the physical move has taken place we begin the process of moving the program into the future in many other ways. What will Shapes look like in six to twelve months? Good question, but we know that things are in the works to keep it around and to allow the work to impact a broader audience.
What we know now is that Shapes has been moved into the Children’s Ministry Department of the Assemblies of God and I will be working with the folks there to establish a mentoring program for youth. The program will still serve the children of inmates, but we are excited to expand to include other children as well.
You will be hearing more about this transition in the weeks and months to come, but I wanted you to know where we are literally and figuratively right now so you can keep us in your thoughts and prayers. As I have more information about what is happening I will pass it on to you.
